West Coast

One of my impromptu photos taken in town outside the railway station which picks up and drops off passengers from the Tranz Alpine, the Speights restaurant is across the road.

So, our new neighbour has moved into the house next door which was for sale and he's been tidying up the backyard including pruning trees. Perfecting timing really since it's Autumn. He asked me if I wanted the 3 rose bushes in the backyard otherwise he would be throwing them out so B and I went over there and dug them out. They look like they have been there for a few years so I replanted them against one of the fences in the full sun and gave them a good pruning. Hopefully they will flower nicely come Spring.

...good luck with your roses.

What a lovely gesture—and a fortunate one, too; there's something especially rewarding about giving old rose bushes a new home and imagining the blooms they'll offer you come spring.

Nice score - 3 free rose bushes (had you seen them in flower under previous management?)

Untamed natural wilderness, that's promising.
It's nice that there was still a spot in your garden for those roses.

Sounds like a nice neighbor!

I love when people repurpose plants. We have some Iris's in our backyard which my wife got from her Mother's house nearby, who transplanted them from her childhood home almost 200 miles away.

Hopefully you will have some beautiful roses on those bushes.

It was so nice of the neighbor to offer you three rose bushes. I put coffee grounds, onion peels and water in a blender and walked outside and poured the mixture on my roses. No bugs and blooms galore. Marigolds planted in front also helps keep the bugs away. Good luck! A gift that keeps on giving.

Would love to follow up report on those rose bushes.

With the exception of the leaves everywhere, I feel we've skipped Autumn and gone straight to winter....#Allseasons
