A walk along Mount Maunganui beach

It's still hot hot hot here so this morning the other half and I decided to go for a walk along Mount Maunganui beach as we've gotten a bit lazy recently. This was at the quiet part - quite a few people around, some swimming some walking with their dogs.

This was at the busy end where people were congregated around some event that was happening, not sure what it was but the junior lifeguards were running in and out of the water. By the time we walked off the beach, through the shops and back home again it took us about an hour and 30 minutes. Lucky there's been a good breeze otherwise we would've been sweltering but I do think I'm a bit over Summer now, can't wait for some cooler temperatures :-)

Panorama of Matheson Bay - Summer 2013

While organizing my old photos a few nights ago I came across this one taken at Mathesons Bay north of Auckland when I use to visit this area quite a bit. Such a small beach that was really a popular place in Summer but very calm water and a pontoon for the kids to swim out to.

And I am SO glad it's Friday tomorrow (yes I am posting this early), the new job I started is going well. In case you didn't know, I am back working in dentistry as a dental assistant which I worked in when I lived up north for 4 years before moving down here. Each dentist does things differently, has different procedures, using different products so for the last couple of weeks I have been learning everything new compared to what I was use to - but I like it, it's interesting.

Anyway the photo above is all because of Skywatch Friday so if you want to see more of the same from loads of other bloggers click here :-)

Night lights over Tauranga Port

Tonight after hearing that a full moon was due I drove down to the Port of Tauranga, although the sky was overcast I couldn't get a clear shot but I did get this one. The lights on the left corder at the bottom are the reflection of the lights at the port on my car as it was parked on the shore.

Hope your weekend was awesome, for more Our World Tuesdays click here :-)

Caifornia Poppies on the rocks in Matua

One of my favourite places to rest at is this place - on a quiet road about 10 minutes from where I live is this little spot, the shores are lined with California Poppies and rocks. People regularly walk along the footpath and sit on the wooden seats. In the distance is the Tauranga Port which is this region's only major port until Auckland.

No wonder I come here - just so peaceful. Hope your week has been great just like mine has :-)

Happy smiles in Auckland City

A couple of weeks ago we were in Auckland City picking up my youngest who has decided to move down with us from up north, while we were waiting at the bus depot at Sky City I snapped a few shots here and there of what I could see - this one is of some happy looking students as they were walking up the road. We need more smiles like this :-)

Tauranga please cool down!

Now is the time when I say I can't wait for it to cool down, Summer seems to be going forever and in case you think I'm griping and complaining, just let me say I am really not a fan of the heat. This shot of Pilot Bay reiterates that I can't wait to move out here away from the suburbs and near the beach...sand, salty air, hearing the waves at night - awesome!

I do however have some good news to share.....I started a new job last week back in dentistry working as a dental assistant, that means I help the dentist out, keep the patients happy and calm and do all the behind the scenes stuff that is part of the job. Something to do with a bit more income had a bit to do with it. Let's just say for the first couple of days my feet were very very sore and I was shattered when I got home at night but now I'm slowly starting to get use to it again :-)

Hope you're having a fab weekend!

Waitangi Day views of Pilot Bay and Papamoa Beach

Last weekend with it being a long weekend aka Waitangi Day for us kiwis, we thought it was a good idea to get out and about instead of being stuck inside. The top photo is the view of Pilot Bay in Mount Maunganui, somewhere that has boats moored here and there plus apartments lining the main road.

And this one, although a little unclear was of a paraglider on Papamoa Beach flying upwards in the Summer breeze, and might I say it's too hot here, we're over the humidity - roll on Autumn!

Mosaic people and snails at Te Puna Quarry Park

On my last visit to Te Puna Quarry Park in late Spring I found these two sculptures rather amusing. These two were probably my favourite ones there, the one above is a mosaic sculpture of two people, a man and a woman plus having a cup of tea accompanied by their little dog.

And this one, a very large mosaic snail. Some people are so clever and creative don't you think? I love checking out unusual creations like this - definitely something different.

Winter watery reflections at Wellington Wharf

One of my favourite shots this one from last Winter when we stopped by Wellington Wharf in New Zealand's lower north island on our way to Nelson. There's something about the sea, the smell of the salty air and structures like this that warm my heart. Speaking of warm, at last we have had some rain here to cool the Summer temperatures - roll on Autumn :-)
