Reflections at Kerikeri Cruising Club

Winter skies and reflections at the Kerikeri Cruising Club - similar to a Fishing club. Photo taken last week. We've had mostly sunny warm days since we moved up here, only one night of rain - feels like Spring.

Mangonui Fish and Chip Shop

This place is one of my favourite Northland scenes. The Mangonui Fish Shop has won awards over the years for making the best fish and chips in NZ. Located overlooking the Mangonui harbour on the way to Cable Bay then Pahia this place certainly has a peaceful atmosphere - and with scenery like this who wouldn't want to enjoy a nice quiet lunch there.

Winter watery reflections at Wellington Wharf

One of my favourite shots this one from last Winter when we stopped by Wellington Wharf in New Zealand's lower north island on our way to Nelson. There's something about the sea, the smell of the salty air and structures like this that warm my heart. Speaking of warm, at last we have had some rain here to cool the Summer temperatures - roll on Autumn :-)

Wellington Wharf - Overcast reflections in black and white

I couldn't resist taking this snapshot of a section of Wellington Wharf on Friday afternoon, this was at the beginning of our trip to Nelson. The Interislander Ferry normally docks around the corner here and shortly after this image was clicked some workmen came along and started working on some of the piers. Such an overcast mild Winter's day but I really liked in particular the reflection on the water, so calm and quiet :-)

Autumn morning reflections - leaves and rain

This morning while out on a big walk I snapped a few photos of what I see when I'm out on my local travels. I don't know about you but I find if I don't do a bit of exercise each day I get tired by the afternoon so if I get out and do something I feel alot better for it. Above is a Bromeliad filled with water in the garden outside my bedroom window.

Autumn leaves close up at the end of my driveway, this tree is beautifully covered with red/yellow colours.

South Pacific Bible College just up the road from where I live - we woke up to some rain this morning so there are lots of puddles still about.

Watery drips still remain on alot of the trees - this one like many here are now bare and with this one I could just see a view of part of the city over a house roof.

I had to take a photo of this one - leaves resting on the back window of a black car I walked past along with leftover rain drops.

Reflections from the Mauao walking track - Mount Maunganui

Last week, on one of my days getting out of the house I took a walk which was suggested by my lovely other half which was to complete a track around the base of Mount Maunganui. Remember my other post about climbing to the top of the mountain? Well this is the same place but around the bottom.

The photo, above is one of the shots I captured while about 3/4 of the way around - if there's something I like it's seeing the reflection of the sun on the water, just another reminder of how lovely the world is that we live in.

Reflections on the Hoteo River - Kaipara Coast

Once in a while the teens and I go on roadtrips - this one was when we randomly drove down State Highway 16, off the beaten track from Wellsford through to Helensville. We stopped off at the Hoteo River and watched a couple of people walking in the low tide with their fishing gear. It was a clear Spring day with a chill in the air. People travel this way to avoid the main highway with all the busy traffic.

Orange reflections from the hills of Tawharanui

I can't resist sharing this shot I captured last year while walking around Campbell's Beach in the Tawharanui area. This was taken in the late afternoon/early evening just when the sun was starting to set over the hills and reflecting over the sand when the tide was out.

For the last few weeks we've been very lucky on the West Coast to have had lovely sunny Spring weather. Now for the next week or so we...
