A brief visit to Pukehina Beach

While out and about on Sunday we stopped into the small settlement of Pukehina Beach, about 30 minutes out of town.

Now that Summer is over and Autumn is on it's way things are starting to calm down, the crowds have gone back home and back to work.

The beach when we walked down to it from the car park and surf club was very isolated and bare, about the only things we saw were loads of Oyster Catchers and Seagulls so not alot going on, very quiet.

Summer reflections on the sand

A few weeks back while thinking of random things to photograph I asked the other half to stand on the sand in the low tide to see what reflections we could get - I think I took these two good ones of his full body in the late afternoon sunshine. What do you think?

Snapper for sale

We've had a very lazy Sunday afternoon so far...this morning while we were food shopping I ambled passed the Seafood counter and spotted these Snapper in ice. I quickly got a photo on my phone but I didn't buy any, instead I settled on some bits and pieces of Salmon - my favourite kind of fish to eat.

Friday Autumn skies at Pilot Bay

Today was one of those mornings where it was overcast and chilly but now mid-morning it's clearing up and blue skies are what I see out my lounge window. This was taken out at Pilot Bay near the wharf and takeaway shop.

Welcome Autumn!

Alot has happened here since last week. Friday saw us drive 2 hours or so to Auckland Airport to drop off the step daughter as she has gone to live in Perth, Australia and my daughter stayed with her grandparents for the weekend. We've been happily relaxing over the weekend but it was back to work this morning and this was one of the shots I snapped today while walking to the beach.

Rain and flooding...

New Zealand has been dosed with some major rainfall this week, so far the Coromandel region has been flooded as has parts of Auckland and there's more to come this weekend.

Before it all started this is the photo I took first thing in the morning from our bedroom window looking out over the neighbour's roof and onto the street. I haven't edited this photo except to sharpen and add my copyright on it so the colours are all original.

Tinges of Red around town...

Early days of Autumn here in NZ, this morning on my walk around 7.30am the skies were a mixture of blue/peach and grey but lots of red from lights on most of the cafes and restaurants.

Foggy Mornings at Pilot Bay

This was taken 2 mornings ago on one of my walks this time along Pilot Bay - we've had the last day of Summer so foggy misty overcast skies like this are more than welcome.

The Pizza Library - Mount Maunganui

Just down the road from us at the beginning of the shopping area underneath apartments is this unique restaurant. The Pizza Library is located in 3 spots...Mount Maunganui, Bethlehem and Tauranga central.  I've never eaten there but I've heard they make very nice gourmet pizzas. These statues sit outside I guess to make them stand out, maybe it's their trademark...who knows.
