Waiho Bridge

At the entry to the Franz Josef glacier park is this bridge and river named the Waiho Bailey Bridge which was first built in 1990. It has been raised and extended 3 times so far due to the increase in sediment of the river bed.  This river quite often has a high flood risk and the bridge has been rebuilt a few times over the years. On the way we were here it was a peaceful Autumn sunny day.

Do you have problems with the glacier melting?

I am in Christchurch. The heavy rain since my arrival is flooding the city river banks

Rebuilding a bridge by misjudgment doesn't happen very often anyway but we'll just chalk it up to climate change.

Love your new header. That bridge is probably a vital link but leads a precarious existence. There was a genuine old wartime bailey bridge somewhere on The Coast in my youth (1960s i guess)
