I love Tirau, it's one of those small towns where you just have to stop and look around. The sheep, above, hosts a wool and craft shop inside and like the dog building was built in the 1990s both created by local artisan Steven Clothier. The ram on the right was added later in 2016.
This farm dog hosts the local i-site visitor centre where people can find out about what to do there. We drove through here on our way back from Taupo in which it was a crisp Autumn day.

...they sure are huge in your neck of the woods.
The sheep and dogs buildings are very cool. Thanks for the info yesterday on family search.
Very cool!
I love the looks on the sheep's faces.
Isn't his work fabulous? I love his artworks.
You people are incredibly imaginative! What a wonderful way to brighten a small town. Love them. Thanks for showing all these travel photos
That is so clever (and kinda cute), I´d march right in - did you have time for that? Pics?
Oh my gosh that first shot is classic Amy 😀 This is probably the most unique visitor centre I've seen. We certainly have our fair share of BIG things in OZ and NZ 😉
Well yes, that town is way worthy of a stop and look ...I’ve never seen anything like those buildings...rather incredible. I’d want to see what they were like inside (and I suppose that’s the idea). Great photo ops! How fun.
Yikes, that huge dog looks scary to me! (I like the sheep better...)
Awesome sculptures
It looks like such fun to have that in the neighborhood.
These are fun. Very whimsical!

I drove through there today, or, I should say, crawled through there. It was a real bottleneck on my way home so I never even thought of stopping and browsing their fascinating shops. I love the eyes in the sheep, so expressive :)
Love it!
