Kakariki

This guy came into my work last week with his bird - I can't remember the type of bird but he said she was a type of green cockatiel. After looking online google said she was a Kakariki meaning green in the Maori language.

An unusual sight. He wasn't afraid she'd fly off?

It's hard to believe it wouldn't fly away, but I guess they have a strong bond.

I've always wanted a cockatoo or cockatiel, but so do my cats. It doesn't seem like a good idea!

This one from a visit to Kaikohe when we lived in the far north about 4 years ago - this is a cute town with friendly people who live there....
