Hail

Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.

Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.

That must have been quite a surprise for your daughter to wake up to, especially seeing the hail clumped across your deck.

We havenhad hail here but have had snow on hilltops a couple of mornings in recent weeks - that makes a cold start to the day. Did you know that NZ has quite well mapped out hail belts? Places where it consistently falls.

We get the odd hail storm like that here. I have to admit, I love a good storm.

It's amazing to see so much hail. It looks so much like snow. Twice we've had a layer of hail like that. Great for photos!
