About a year ago in late Autumn B and I visited an area about 15 minutes out of town. Notown Cemetery once was a part of Notown - a town that was once a flourishing gold mining place but literally turned into a ghost town. We drove about 15 minutes along a gravel road to get to it and as you can see it's surrounded by bush and mountains.
As you can see alot of the resting places are unmarked mounds of earth or covered by rocks.
Notown School surrounded by bush and gorse.
It was once a busy little town that included hotels, a church and houses but the cemetery is all that remains. Last 2 photos courtesy of West Coast Recollect.

Cemeteries are fascinating history.
Love your banner (of course). And oh, that school looked nice.
Such an interesting place to visit. Great photos.
I have also visited an old neglected cemetery in this area, but I have never seen one as bad as this one.
Lots of history in that cemetery.
Never knew it existed - somewhere to put on my list of homegrown stuff to do and see. Nice to see it is not overgrown and kept all tidy.
Interesting place to visit.
I would love to wander through that cemetery, such an interesting place. I'd like to think about all those people who are interred there.... pioneers!
Love the name of the town. A bit of humour there. And a very interesting cemetery
What an amazing and historic place to visit. Nice pics.
...this is a cemetery that I'd like to visit.
Wow I read Notown as No Town correct? How desolate can you get but beautiful photo's.
I love cemeteries. Amazing how these resemble some old cemeteries I have seen in the American west in old mining towns.
