Good day to walk and see the town.
Havelock is also often a melee of 'pass through' tourists. The number of cafes attests that. Even Rai Velley has a high class craft shop that relies heavily on passing tourist trade.
The popular season is to be avoided visiting NZ
Can always recognise Australian and New Zealand shopfronts from the awnings.
I once did a paper on New Zealand in high school. I always thought it was a beautiful country and I would like to go there someday. It probably won't happen.

I'm not surprised, from the photos I've seen (as well as in television and movies) it looks like a great vacation destination! And that nice wide shadowy area looks nice for summer heat too!
And they are all a long way from home.
I hope to travel there some day too!
