Another photo from the last time we were in Reefton a couple of weeks ago. This particular day it was very very foggy and we had to drive home with our car lights on. Some of you have asked why I take photos that don't seem to have many people in them. Well, here people get a bit weirded out when you take photos of them without permission so I prefer to be a bit careful in that respect.
On this day though there were plenty of people mostly inside in cafes having lunch. We have had some lovely sunny days though in Greymouth, the odd bout of rain but nothing major. The fire hasn't been on much lately as our nightly lows have been around the 5 to 8 degree mark but as of tomorrow the temps are going to be back down to 2 again. We have plenty of firewood and driftwood.
I did see a news story a few nights ago about some tourist vans further down south in Tekapo that slid off the road after driving on black ice but we don't really get alot of that here, it's not cold enough.

Definitely misty there.
A very wintery photo. I do love the fog...in the photo. Who buys ice at this time of the year?
Is it also that it is not very busy with population in your lucky part of the world ?
Nice photo, it looks cold though.
That's a lovely foggy photo.
I remember buying some small pictures in a little art shop in Reefton. I don't recall much else about it.
...this looks like an inside kind of day!
I get why you avoid including people—privacy is important.
Great photo, Amy.
Happy Tuesday!
I like this photo.
The people there sound a bit like many on the Coromandel Peninsular - privacy is paramount!
Foggy indeed. I miss that. Luckily here people don´t care if you take pics. There was a time where they did but... not anymore. I would never publish a pic of someone in a bad situation, so...
I grew up in the US west where we had no fog so I find it very interesting and mysterious.
When I first started blogging I took photos of everybody now I don't. You are right many people resent it and with relatives, they may so okay but I can tell they are not okay with it so I try to not take photos of other folks except in group settings and such.
I think foggy images are mysteriously beautiful. Thanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2024/07/a-visit-to-philadelphias-reading.html
