Unloading

I was impressed last week in Hokitika when I saw this man unloading his truck full of fresh lettuces for one of the local cafes. Locally grown and supplied, the Lettuce Man grows all his produce hydroponically. It's good to buy from local growers.

Linking up with Weekend Reflections and the Weekend Roundup.

Local lettuces are usually best. You sound as though you know these lettuces and trust your lettuce man. I'm a bit suspicious of ours. The growers need to grow and sell to churn out a living and I think they probably use a lot of sprays and chemicals. We grow our own but do buy sometimes, always local because that's whats available

Good candid shot.

The sandwiches sound good, have you eaten there? I suppose he gets his picture taken quite often. My mom sold her eggs to the local grocers sometimes, other times took them to Omaha to the produce market.

Artificially multiplying the yield can cause problems as we often hear here in the Netherlands anyway, and if anything is kept under wraps it is.

Fun! I think it's good to watch restaurant and grocery deliveries -- a reminder of all the work and steps along the way for us to get our food which it is so easy to take for granted.
