I'm sharing a little mural this week seen in Westport last time we were there. The meaning of "Kawatiri" refers to the Buller River. In Māori it means "swift and deep" and is linked with the Ngāti Rarua chief Kawatiri who watched over the trail between Ngai Tahu and Ngāti Rarua lands.
Linking up with Mural Monday.

Interesting to learn about the meaning behind Kawatiri.
Great find, Amy.
Happy Easter! 🐣🌷
A great typography mural
...thanks for the translation, Happy Easter.
Good one, I like when murals have a meaning, a story.
Trying to get my tongues round those Maori names. Wish we had been taught Maori in school
Nice typography and I like the flower at the end.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Amy.
