Paeroa Hotel

In the central North Island is the little town of Paeroa, which has an estimated population of approx 4630 people. On the corner at the incoming intersection is this old hotel. Most towns and cities around the country all have historical hotels like this which double as a drinking/eating establishment and somewhere to stay.

The Paeroa Hotel is part of the historic plates trust being built around 1897. It was relocated to where it now sits in 2 sections when the local railway station was constructed using skids and winches in 1904.

Linking up with Weekend Reflections and the Weekend Roundup.

Paeroa was always a stopping place on our way to or from Auckland but I don't remember the hotel. Its a lovely old classic building

I like old buildings and learning about them. Our post office growing up was seven miles to the east of our farm at Herman, Nebraska, down from our hills on the Missouri River bottom lands. The hotel building has survived but only the saloon now functions, the rest of the front is divided into homes for other businesses, but most of them have closed. The upper part has been converted to apartments. The population the last time was 526.
I have no pictures.
Keep up telling of your surroundings, I'm sure others enjoy your work probably more than I do.
