Another one from Hokitika, this time an old worldly lollie shop we found. C (my youngest son) and R (my daughter) were happy to buy some of their old favourites from there but personally I've seen better selections in a similar shop in Arrowtown (Queenstown).
So this week while we are sweltering in hot summer temperatures and the local council has put in place water restrictions, Auckland and Northland have been declared a state of emergency due to flooding and heavy rain. It's almost like the North and South Islands have swapped climates.
Linking up with Weekend reflections and the Weekend roundup.

We see some candies and other items we had years ago and they bring back memories.
I cannot believe northland is having a flood emergency too
Some very odd names.
It is getting worrying..we are getting nearer to our time up North....will we be able to go?!
I bet I could find something I'd like in there. It wouldn't be some of those pictured. I heard about the flooding on the news tonight. And, I got my hair cut today and my beautician said he was going to New Zealand for two weeks in late February.
You must have taken the warmer weather with you when you moved south! Would you like to share some of it? :)
Weather is crazy.
Well, that shop I could pass by easily. But next time I´m in the city I plan falling for Mexican food.
Count me in. I have a sweet tooth.
What a selection of lollies. Just give me pineapple lumps and liquorice all-sorts!!
Seen the flooding up north on tv. Incredible how much rain is still falling
...we once had a store, Spencers the sold these DELIGHTS!
I would have liked that shop when I was a kid.
Not many of these types of shops left Amy. Crazy weather around the world Have a great week ahead.
Shops with "old" sweets have been popular in the UK for a long time but, unfortunately, as someone who is old enough to remember the old sweets many are mere shadows of the old ones (which probably contained substances banned in food long ago.).
