These 2 murals are on the side of the Goldfields Information Centre in Ross, just outside of Hokitika. They depict the old mining days in the 1800s when many immigrants came to the West Coast to try their luck in making a fortune.
Linking up with Mural Monday.

Love those murals, Amy. Especially the last one, it has the look of long ago about it.

Not the point, but I love those tinned roofs!
It must´ve been a hard life, coming there with high hopes and dreams that were likely mostly not fulfilled.
Important mural. And well done.
Fantastic murals. You have wonderful artists from North to South!
...people have been trying to strike it rich for ages. A nice bit of history.
Great shot Amy! The paintings are fantastic.
I like that they have been done on weatherboards. It looks like a truly traditional building - weatherboards and corrugated galvanized iron. All together the whole thing speaks of our past.
I love finding murals with historic relevance. Good one.
Love the murals and the history it displays.
I like historical murals, and this one is beautiful. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
It's an enjoyable look back at history and two beautiful murals. They are so well done, and I am delighted you found them, Amy.
Very well done.
Nicely made. Sober yet captivating
Interesting history -- immigrants have always done the hard jobs that nobody else wants to do (over here on this side of the pond anyway).
Beautifully done!
