In just about every New Zealand town there is one of these like this one in Kaeo. Four Squares are like dairies, corner shops, 7/11 stores but they are all under the Foodstuffs umbrella and individually owned privately. These are like traditional kiwi icons.

Looks down to Earth like. Just what you need. I don´t like the new, fancy stores we´re getting here. You wonder what you pay for, the food or the fancy style... Though, certainly, for the staff it is much nicer.
Nearly one hundred years old and still Kiwi owned!!
They really are a kiwi icon. I can remember the Te Puke Four Square way back in my childhood. I'm always surprised when you mention them. They're still going strong it seems
Thanks for sharing some kiwi history. It's nice to have places that still belong to where they started from.
Nice to have something local like this (vs. a big corporate chain that's all over the world). That's a pretty sky!
I love that they are each privately owned.
Great to local shops!
Local shopping is a treat.
I loved this post. Thank you for sharing.

I love having local shop(s) in the neighborhood.
Interesting.
That looks so very interesting
F's grandad used to be a 4 Suare grocer. Iconic colours and symbols. They dont appear to have changed much.
Good that it is locally owned.
