Please scan in


After living here for over 2 years we've only just visited our local farmer's market for the first time. At the entrance we saw this table with a QR code on it for people to scan, all businesses have this now in their windows so if there are any positive cases in our town they can trace it back to where people have been.

We are now in Summer so we've had some very dry days and humid nights. As of this month those who have been vaccinated will need to scan their vaccination passports if they choose to travel or enter into businesses (except essentials like supermarkets). So far for me the process downloading it online was quite easy but there are bound to be many people out there who don't have internet access so they can phone an 0800 number to get theirs posted out to them. Auckland borders will be opening for Summer and people will be driving around on holiday to different areas so those who aren't vaccinated will be in Covid's firing line except for those travelling by plane which you have to scan your passport for.

I downloaded my vaccination pass with no trouble but on my phone it was blank so in the meantime I have just printed it out from my desktop. Been to a few places now and no problems.

Outdoor markets are a much safer environment than shopping indoors. How do the unvaccintaed get about? If the vaccinated must show certificates, do the rest simply have no rules?

The Original Gypsy Fair has been operating very carefully and to regulations for a while...limited numbers, one entry. One exit...and successfully so far

You sound to be taking a far wiser approach to Covid than in Blighty where many people have become very casual about any protective behaviour. Our hospitals are full of those who have, for whatever reason, declined to be jabbed. Very trying for the hospital workers.

I like a good farmer's market. We don't have to show our vaccination passport every time we go somewhere. Many people must feel isolated if they don't have a smart phone or the internet.

I got pinged for the first time - I actually can't believe given how much i go out to big events that that was my first one. Even tho I didn't have to, I did a home test before heading to lunch with friends. Just to be safe. I think Australia is making a huge mistake getting rid of the check ins' What's the harm? (And for the people not wanting the govt to know where they are going, your phone already does that - just look at your fb ads!) #ThruMylens

Weird times.
My "smartphone" cannot go online (long story) - so that throws me out. Sad. And yes. I could switch it. But I´m stubborn.
And... why ever... accepted, LOL.

Ingo got great stuff from the market - the tomatoes were nearly frozen, winter hit!

I'm impressed by how smart NZ is in dealing with the pandemic. Now if only the rest of the world (including the part where I live) could be as good we'd maybe get rid of it for good sometime.

Grace Brothers

  We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

  I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
