how times change :-). imagining a person lighting those lamps.
I think the tiny town where we grew up had street lights like that -- it sure looks familiar. (of course that was back practically to the dark ages.)
I like its look.
We enjoyed our visit to Kawakawa ...arrived by train then returned by bike to the Top 10!
Plenty to see and friendly local people.
My home town had replica street lights like these at our Botanical Gardens. Funnily enough it was fabricated by a New Zealand company, I wonder if it were the same one. I love that old world charm they have.
It's a nice mosaic. As a chemical engineer I am intrigued by the acetyline street lamps. I did not know that that was a potential use.
...the mosaic is eye catching.
Nice mosaic and interesting fact about the beautiful street lamp.
Lighting gas lights was a long time ago, even I cannot remember them
The street lamp is nice looking and so is the mosaic brick wall.
I am old enough to remember when the gas lighter used to come round the streets every night and light the street lamps.
You don't see many gas lit street light any longer. I like that wall too.
I like both lamps and the gorgeous brick wall :)
