Kaikohe Culture Mural

While in Kaikohe last week as I walked through the town I was surprised to see so many murals on the walls around town. This one was on the side of one of the buildings and although I can't find a name of the artist I can say this one depicts the Maori culture, a pigeon, a fish and cows from the farming communities around the area.

Annnnd it seems Auckland is back into a 7 day lockdown here due to a few selfish people. 2 people who are part of the latest cluster were tested and told to go home and stay there until the results came through. Instead the 1st person went to work resulting in the business having to close and the 2nd person chose to go to the gym and other places. I'm starting to wonder if people that don't do as they are told should be charged or fined to get the message through, thoughts?

Linking up with Mural Monday.

...I like how the murals showcases the different parts of the community.

It's humanity, there is simply no accounting for idiots in the gene pool. A blogger we follow in Isle of Mann reported that such folks got a stint in prison. Dramatic but effective. They manage to keep the island reasonably free of COVID and more or less open for business (for islanders). It probably only works in a small cohesive population.

Murals: very nice. People: not very nice! Unfortunately we have much more egregious examples here in the US.

Nice mural. There have been 9,000 fines given out ranging from 100-1,000 euros. The people violated the 5km restriction that says you have to stay within 5km of your house. Only essential travel is allowed for doctor appointments or other appointments and you have to have proof. They are finally cracking down on these selfish people. 13 people were arrested today for violence in an anti lockdown protest. This is week 9 for us and we will have another review in April.

Saw this video last night and thought of you. You have been in this area, haven't you? It's a tiny house in NZ, very nice area.

That is a stunning mural, Amy. I like how it depicts the people of that island.

It's too bad some people are so senseless and don't want to follow the rules. It's even worse here in the states.

Interesting, nice mural, but what?! How dumb are some people?!
In my "larger" family one was tested positive and visited my Brother´s MIL, who is old, overweight and has diabetes. How.dumb.can.one.be? Have to ask if hopefully nothing has happened. That person works for a kindy. Glad I have no children, really.

A lovely mural Amy, thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
Gosh, I heard about your lockdown on tv. How selfish and idiotic can some people be!! I agree they should be fined for sure, maybe then all the others would think twice about not following rules. It doesn't just affect them it will affect the whole community, commerce, schools...

Great mural of course. Wonderful art.
Here quarantine breakers are either fined or go to jail. NZ needs to move it up a notch. You're all doing so darn well till some 'criminal' disobeys the rules.
Hope it's all over with one short lockdown
