Outside a bar/restaurant named "Bad Habits" in Paihia my daughter and I stopped to admire all these Christmas decorations. I checked out their menu online and it looks very impressive.
This weekend we have been watching the yacht racing between Emirates Team NZ, Lunar Rossa Prada, Ineos Team UK and American Magic. They've had perfect hot Summer weather - oh to be out on the water in Auckland. Bliss!
And lastly i was in the cafe next to my work today buying my favourite iced coffee with chocolate sauce and couldn't believe the amount of people not scanning the apps on their phone with the Covid qv code along with no social distancing - they are meant to be 2 metres apart here and there are signs up everywhere but because we don't have any community cases people don't care.

We need bad habits, life wouldn´t be fun otherwise - I refer to food, not distance. Distance most ignore here, too, how dumb. So not looking forward to go grocery shopping and to the market.

Why are people so quick to let their guard down. We are all on strict lockdown, masks worn inside and out, for most. We went shopping yesterday. Amazing how many weren't wearing masks or weren't wearing them properly. Other half yells at them.
Enjoy your iced coffee. With choc sauce . Yum. I'm quite happy with hot coffee just now.

Great decorations and I love the name of that cafe. So many people are not taking this seriously enough.
We got exposed to covid by our painters so we went for a testing and boy was it bothersome. Took 36 hours to get the results and we stayed in the whole time. Fortunately we were negative.
I am going to be even more reclusive now.

I've noticed that about the app and distancing as well. I think our country has a major problem with smug complacency because the virus has never been out of control here. My daughter lets me know how different it is in the US, quite scary.
Sidewalk tables are fun places to eat. Once in Bordeaux, France, three of us were eating outside on a sidewalk table. The ladies ordered off the menu and the waiter gave wine suggestions. I ordered a French hotdog. In France the hotdogs are sausages poked down into a bagel, mustard or ketchup or both if desired are poked down into the bagel hole ahead of the sausage. Those are often procured at an elaborated food cart.
Or the bagel is flayed open into two halves, then four sausages, or half slices if thick, are placed lengthwise, two on each half. Then it is dressed with cheese and vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and whatever. Mustard or ketchup and then some mayo are common choices. These are usually sold at sit down and carryout restaurants, those are what I ordered. I asked our waiter what wine should I eat with my dressed up hotdog. He replied, beer. In Italy I would have had Chianti.

I do like the name of that bar/restaurant and look forward to when we feel it is safe to resume our “bad habits” of eating out at small local restaurants — and it’s just fine when they are a bar too )). Unfortunately, the behavior you mention at your favorite coffee shop is rampant here , so we are staying safer by eating and drinking at home. (Just occasional takeout meals and not nearly as many of those. )
