While I was in one of our local supermarkets a few days ago I saw in the foyer they had 3 Christmas trees set up with volunteers raising money for Hospice NZ.
Now the Hospice organization do a wonderful job here. They get their funding from the government to help those affected with cancer and those needing personal care from illnessness such as Multiple Sclerosis, lung failure, dementia, motor neurone disease etc. Many op shops around the country are Hospice based and the proceeds from selling their items which people donate go to them.

Hospice is a great concept . Here too. I assume by “op shop” you mean what we’d call second hand stores?
Amy, i can't praise highly enough what hospices do not just for the terminally ill but also their families. My father's last 5 days were spent in a hospice which was beautifully set up so that one of the family could even sleep there every night. It was set in gardens - with big garden doors so we could take him outdoors and coped with any amount of visiting. It was the best possible cosolation when we could no longer care for him at home as had been his preference. I hope they continue thrive as part of every community in NZ to provide dignity in dying and respite for carers.
Our hospices are also amazing and are dependent upon donations for the majority of their income.
...hospice is such an important thing!
...and it's so much needed this year with the pandemic!
Hospice is helping lots of people here and people are helping hospice with donations.
I'm always envious at how people decorate their trees, because I just don't have any creative bone in my body. I wonder if there is a book on decorating the tree for dummies.
Stay safe.'

Hello,
The tree is pretty. I am glad Hospice is receiving donations, they help so many people.
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great week ahead!
Such a good idea Amy, they need all the funding plus that they can get ✨
