Kite surfing at Mount Maunganui beach
Still have the scorching Summer weather here, today was one of those days we not only got out for our beach walk but also came back down here again in the afternoon with our beach chairs, water and books.
We watched this kite surfer skimming along the waves very very fast back and forth until after about half an hour he came down into the water and couldn't get back up again. The speed he was travelling though was pretty amazing. I've since learned this is a type of Hydrofoil that the kitesurfer is holding - more info here.

It is amazing what people can do. I've seen kite surfing on youtube and the good ones make it look it easy.
Kite surfers on the beach are amazing to watch.
I've never seen anyone do this, it looks fascinating.
I was wandering around The Mount this time last year and I have to say that as gales batter the island where I live at the moment I wish that I was back in NZ.
Such an inviting photo as it is Winter here ~ glad you are enjoying the beach and the kite flying ~ (I saw some on the beach in Ga at Jekyl Island ~ it was fun to watch ~ enjoy ~ thanks,
Wishing you a Happy and Peaceful Week ~ ^_^
Cool. I've featured some kitesurfing shots on my blog too including one just last week.
Excellent photo, Amy. Just yesterday I took photos of parasails on the ice. They were pulling people along our frozen lake. Stay cool.
I just tweeted the parasailing I was watching: https://twitter.com/dishcurtain
