Swan plants on Kawau Island
A couple of years ago I visited Auckland's Kawau Island for the day and while exploring the island I came across a large clump of Swan Plants. Now these things are mighty handy as they attract butterflies who lay their eggs on the leaves and when the eggs hatch they turn into caterpillars and eventually out comes Monarchs. Apparently if all the leaves get eaten I've heard of people hanging pieces of pumpkin from the branches for them to munch on. Do you have these where you live?

I love Kawau Island and swan plants. When we had our yacht it was our favorite destination. As for swan plants, they are everywhere out here on the hibiscus coast.
Wow, I've never heard of Kawau or Swan plants or any of this....hmmmm...maybe something to put on my list.
Hello Amy,

Beautiful macro shot of the Swan Plant ~ I am not real familiar with plant names ~ so not sure whether the USA has such a plant ~ certainly plants that butterflies are attracted to we have.
Happy Week to you,
