In Taupo on the corner of Ferry Road and Tongariro Street near the boat marina is this giant Trout sculpture. The town is famous for it's freshwater lake in which the fish roam around. The sculpture was erected in 1999 to replace a previous trout sculpture built in 1985 for the Dawn Walker Trout Fishing Competition.

Ooooh cool. Rakaia on SH1 south of Christchurh has a salmon one of those. I love the sculptures you see at the edges of towns that are meant to advertize a towns culture or special features.
That is one huge Trout and would make a great Fish Story for someone to retell. Have a wonderful day.
I remember it well. You couldn't avoid it whether you were driving through or stopping for a while. I like Taupo.
That you can't miss.
WOW!! What a cool sculpture!
Happy Tuesday, Amy!
What a big trout! Taupo has so many things to photo. Great place to visit.
Wow. Ingo sure´d get hungry ;-)
...I've heard many big fish stories, but this one is huge. Thanks Amy for sharing, take care.
That would feed a few people
Wonderfully descriptive sculpture! I became a fan of trout when we moved west in the US where they are plentiful
Is that the one that got away?
Now that is really some fish! Sounds like a cool place.
Really neat!
Canada is well know for its large roadside attractions. - Margy

Thanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
Nice interpretation of a trout. It certainly gets its point across.
