One of Greymouth's main streets with a sign that says "liquor free zone" - many towns around the country have signs like this to discourage people getting drunk in town and being a nuisance.
Linking up with Skywatch Friday, All Seasons and Tom's signs.

...I love your new header. There are communities here that are "dry," ligor isn't sold.
That means walking around with bottles of something? We have those too. #Allseasons
Beautiful header, I love it. We don't have a liquor free zone but it would be a great idea.
You are right lots of towns have alcohol ban painted on the pavements at zone boundaries. In Collingwood the pub is inside the ban zone - go figure.
Smoke free is also overdue
We don't have liquor free zones but we have 'dry days' when liquor is not sold.
Never saw such a sign in Germany. On the contrary. Once in Cologne on a hot summer´s evening I went to a kiosk to grab a cool bottle of beer for later. Before I could say anything the lady´d opened it up for me! Cheers then!
Great new header. Hope the sign works.
Does it help? I've never seen such a sign here but there may be places where they practice it. It differs from one town to another here whether drinking alcohol in public spaces is allowed or not.
Interesting. There are places where that might be needed here.
It wouldn't go down well here. Drinking, eating and dancing are a tradition you'd better not tamper with.
Interesting! Does that mean no taverns or restaurants where you can order wine with dinner? or just that you can't walk around with open containers of booze?
I am not sure about where I live. You don't generally see people walking around drinking.
It wouldn't bother me as I don't drink, but my sister likes a glass of wine with dinner. Can't eat there!
I've not seen that in my area, but it's a good idea!
No liquor free zone in Finland. On the contrary drunken peoples are everywhere. Nice shot and love your new header photo too.
I don't believe we have similar signs overhere.
I hope people obey.
Worth a Thousand Words
Love your new header. I think those ban/signs are a good idea in places where crowds go nuts at New Year, etc. Not even sure if we have any around here.
Do the signs work?
Good one.
thats interesting!
You can still order drinks in restaurants just not drinking in public in the streets.
yes they do especially around New year's.
