Jade Mountain

Near the centre of Greymouth shopping district there is this sculpture featuring a 2 tonne piece of Jade aka Pounamu. The West Coast where I live is famous for finding small pieces of Pounamu on some of the beaches or local rivers. This one was created by Ian Boustridge, a local artist - this one he found at a part of Fiordland. It really is massive and has a small waterfall flowing over it.

Linking up with Weekend Reflections and the Weekend Roundup.

...Amy, often you are able to take pictures with no people. Where are they?

A huge piece of stone. It makes an interesting public art feature.

Always curious how stones like these are moved. Not so much these days as in the case of ancient cultures.

Waiting

A street shot from Hokitika recently where most of the op shops are - there is a man waiting for someone to the left. This was a good day ...
