In Murchison is this war memorial, I haven't seen many where is a statue of a soldier at the top. On on side it is dedicated to those who fought in the great war from 1914 to 1919 and on another side it has names of those who died who were from that area . One of the inscriptions says "Greater hath no man that this, that a man lay down his life for his friends".

One in every town and village and they went so far away to fight someone else's war.
They called it the war to end all wars, only it wasn't. So many young men gone forever.
Ours almost always have a statue on top (and names down the side).
War is not good for anyone.
A nicely done memorial
Nice memorial of a sad event.
A memorial that stands out and honours all those brave men.
...a fitting tribute!
Indeed, it is also a reminder of how stupid people can be after all.
