Love in a jewel

So many shops in Westport that are down the main street. I couldn't help but notice the sign on the left advertising a jewellery shop. I'm not much of a jewellery fan, in fact anything I wear including ear-rings has to be almost surgical steel as I'm allergic to most types. In my years of retail I've seen many people adorned to the max with jewellery such as many rings on fingers, not my thing.

I've had a very quiet week. I was meant to be working extra days but I've been hit with a head cold which pushed me into making an appointment with my doctor to get my next flu vaccine booked in as I'm overdue for a renewal.  Hopefully will be feeling alot better today and tomorrow.

I really like the NZ shopping street photo. I used to wear a few rings and earrings but they annoy me now.

Amy, that is quite a few modern stores for such a small town. Wikipedia said, "it is the oldest European settlement on the West Coast." This lady is looking at the finger jewelry the wrong way, up too close to her eyes. If she would pull back the elbow back a bit and put her hand outright in front of her she could see it to admire better. Of course the ad maker has a more appealing look at the woman this way. :)

Pity that you have allergy towards jewelries! I don't like the jewelry shops in Australia either.

I like the palm trees across the street.
As a teenager, I had seven piercings, four in one ear and three in the other but now I don't wear any jewelry. The sign in my photo translates to Fantastic Animals. It's referring to mythical animals like dragons and griffins.
I love rings but only have three with real jewels. I used to wear more jewellery when I was working but not now unless I'm going out.

More than one ring per finger? I admit, since I work from home all I wear is the wedding ring.
Hope you feel better soon.

I never had my ears pierced, and find other jewelry mostly "in the way" as well - usually only wear them on special occasions.

I have surgical steel ear-piecings and a nipple piercing too. Stainless Steel Watches I´m not allercig either. Bit of leather to go with those and I´m good. Not much of a jewel person myself either.

Love the charming photo of Westport's shopping street.
Once upon a time, I was a big fan of necklaces.
Now, with the passage of years, I've come to realize they only accentuate the wrinkles on my neck!

Happy Monday, Amy!
Not a jewelry person either. Among the many things about which I can say 'I'd rather spend on something else." Cute little street for window shopping though!!

Auckland Metropolis Museum

In amongt the modern new highrise buildings in Auckland City is this smaller vintage building that is currently for sale (I'd buy it if I had the money).   My research found that:  "It was designed by English-born architect Charles Towle and erected in the early 1930s as the Church of Christ, Scientist, the building's Graeco-Roman facade has towering columns that frame its impressive entranceway, with three ornate timber doors decorated with leadlight inserts providing access to the expansive foyer. Arched ceilings dominate the former congregational high stud space beyond the foyer and numerous picturesque windows provide a light, airy feel and an ambience many office buildings lack. The building housed congregational and Sunday school services for 70 years until it was sold and converted into office space in 2003. A significant refurbishment was also carried out with care taken to ensure that the building's distinctive character remained intact. Special architectural ...

Family

Photo taken Spring 2024 in Auckland We have been invited to a family reunion in June 2026 which will be held in Auckland so I'm looking forward to catching up with relatives that I haven't seen in over 10 years.  This week we have: Had a good chat with a friend who has also adopted a rescue dog - must arrange a play date. I've bought some non alcoholic liqueurs to mix up for mocktails which have been very nice as I don't really drink. We had a massive wind storm 2 days ago, we were ok but a good friend who lives 20 minutes away had a bolt of lightning strike her house, the result was a blown up power box inside and part of her kitchen got burned, she had to call out the fire brigade to put it out. And I have a question for you; when you add your blog post to a blog meme or a blog link up, do you expect the owner of that blog to at least come back and comment on the other blogs that have linked up to it including yours even if it's only occasionally?  I actually th...

Hail

Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.  Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.
