It's a normal scene seeing something like this on the way home from work over Summer. It normally doesn't get dark here until around 9.30pm-ish. In the Winter though the darkness starts to come through about 6.30-ish and that's when it's a dry cold mixed with black skies. I must admit Winters are much easier to deal with here as the cold isn't damp - it's actually manageable compared to Northland.
The garden maintenance company I contacted never came by so B hired a trailer from a nearby rental place and we all spent a few hours hauling all the leftover branches and dead agapanthus plants we had pulled out into it. Luckily the local rubbish dump doesn't charge for green waste so we were able to take it there. Unfortunately our ride on lawn mower needs repairs done to it and my son has hurt his wrist so I pushed the lawnmower around for about an hour and managed to get the section tidy again.

The area looks green with dramatic clouds. Lucky no pouring of rain or floods
That looks a very large garden to keep neat and tidy.
Reminds me of my teenage years when I had a portion of the lawn to mow. It wasn't so bad because I always enjoyed the end result.
You did a great job. Must be pleasing to look out at the clean yard and lawn now .
Mind you a ride on mower would be so much easier....and fun?
..sometimes you just have to do things yourself.
I can't believe you described the Coast ass not damp! And I still can't absorb the size of your yard. It's amazing.
Wonderful light in that first shot.
Thank you for joining #Allseaosn but please make sure you comment.
That looks like a big area, you'll have plenty of ideas of what you wish to do.
That looks like a big section. You will be glad to have to all tidy :)
Beautiful shots! I am not big fan of winter though :-)
Great scenery.
Beautiful warm scenes. Too bad you had to clean up the property yourself, I hope your son's wrist heals soon.
That was lots of work to clean up and also mow that large area. It looks great.
The light on that roof is amazing! You are blessed to have a neat picked up yard now. Sending thoughts and prayers your son's wrist heals quickly.
Pretty sky in that first photo. It's been a long time since I've used a push mower!
Visiting from Skywatch Friday!
