On the main street


At the end of one of main streets of Greymouth is this corner outside the movie theatre there is this nice seating area which looks out towards our favourite restaurant across the road. Is it just me or are movies becoming less popular these days in that alot of people are using streaming services in their own homes such as Netflix or Youtube etc?  I remember growing up going to the movies with my nana was a huge treat.

Going to cinema used to be treat for me before pandemic. Now it is just less costly watching movies on the latest wide screen TV with surround system

Lucky we have an outdoor summer movie theatre.
Don't know what's happening in the big cities but I bet Netflix at home is more popular. Not so much covid I'd guess but the price

The biggest dude sits always in front of me in cinema etc, etc, but also you always get everything translated to German, which sucks as many a joke gets lost. The voices are "wrong"... So, yes, I sit at home and watch DVDs...

But I still remember those drive-in-cinemas where you watched the movie from the car. Do those still exist?

I think you're right. With streaming, fast release of new movies, and high definition TVs, there is less to gain by going to a movie theater. I haven't been in a couple years, and I know some of our local theaters have gone out of business. Kind of sad.

Movies are slow to come back. Hopefully they will continue recovering. Streaming is nice but watching something on the big screen is deluxe.

I love the sitting area. Unfortunately, nice public seating is disappearing in the USA. Homeless people stay on them all day long. I don't demonize them. They need to be somewhere and our housing has gotten really expensive.

Outdoor seating has increased exponentially since F was a kid. In Uk it exploded too (since COVID especially).

We still go to the movies and the sessions are full but I have read that movine going is down and one of the cinemasemailed me for feedback (which can only mean numbers are down)....Thanks for joining in #Allseasons

Grace Brothers

  We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

  I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
