I'm one of those people who gets a bit excited by old architecture around New Zealand. This old pub/building/hotel is located on the main street of Westport on the West Coast. Judging by the look of it I'd say it was built around the early 1920s. I'm not really sure how it got it's name, perhaps the building was originally black and white. It seems to have some bad reviews from about 5 years ago on Trip Advisor but recently there are alot of positive comments.

For sure the hotel is an oldie.
Could also say grubby and whiteish
Interesting name, I expected to see a black and white building. :) We have a town called Westport too, it is on the coast in county Mayo.
It has character.
...it needs a bit of freshening up!
I've seen Black & White Hotels before, I am not quite sure where. South Africa, N.Z, India, or some other Brit provence that I have no idea which. It was not modern one bit.
..
Black & White used to be (is) a brand of whiskey - famous for the little dogs on the label. Many is the terrier named Whiskey for that reason - maybe also the pub.
I wonder who decided to paint the front red. With a name like Black and White, I would have stuck with that theme.
Interesting hotel. Would love to take a peek inside. :)
you had me with the title and thumbnail :-)))
Nice shot! It would be interesting to compare it to a photo from when it was new.
