Making headway...

Photo taken last Friday morning at McLaren Falls, Tauranga - at the start of Autumn.

Well...lots going on here. For about 5 years now I've been working on all sides of my family tree, and believe me there are lots and lots of sides to go through. After getting a DNA test done last year I've found out that I have Armenian, Scottish, Irish, British, Scandavian (Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish), Polish, Filipino etc. For my mum's mother's side I had assumed they were only Scottish and Irish. After spending 5 years trying to find something out in the weekend I made headway and ended up going through various Scottish royalty through to English/French/Hungarian royalty back to 1st century Norway.

Now I'm working on the Polish Jewish side...

That is a real mix! Where on earth do you start working it all out?

I use familysearch.org along with various places like births, deaths marriages in alot of countries and papers past nz which is a website that has historical newspapers from the 1800s through to the 1950s. It's hard work, so much digging to do.

Lovely autumn leaves and colors. I admit I miss all that although I do enjoy a climate that =technically!! - does not have winter!!Good luck with all your family research.

Lovely shot and good luck with your search. I did that years ago and found out that my grandmother was born in Galway and as a result could qualify for Irish citizenship. We moved here four years ago after I applied and got it.

As always it's lovely to see McLaren Falls. As for our antecedents and DNA most of us are a wonderful mishmash of all sorts.

We could be related!! I took a DNA test a couple years ago and I had a lot more English and a lot less Irish and Danish in my family that what I had been led to believe along with a sprinkling of other European countries and despite some family legends, not a hint of Native American but a possible sprinkling of north African.

What a beautiful photo, Amy...such serenity. I would love to be sitting there.
I have opted to ignore my genealogy but we did have our dog's DNA tested...six breeds in her ancestry.
Thanks for sharing.
