Along Karangahape Road - the pub in the photo was licenced in 1862 to Mr George Pearson as the Naval Hotel but the licence was petitoned against by 90 local residents. It was the first on this road of Colonial Auckland but it is good to know that it is still being used as a pub.

Remarkable to think that despite such strong opposition back in 1862, the old Naval Hotel has endured and continues to serve as a pub on Karangahape Road today
Nice in its white coat.
It's always nice when a company has been in the same place for over 100 years.
It's a great old building
The building has stood the test of time.
Over 100 years old pub? Fantastic!
...I love the streetscape!
Interesting history. Lovely architecture!
What a beautiful building with lots of history.
It looks like the 'verandah' over the street was added later. I wonder how much style that covered up.
Great pub.
Beautiful street and sky capture!
Love these old colonial buildings.
Older buildings have great character.
I wonder why the locals petitioned against it?
probably part of the temperance movement
I'd have to go try that pub out!!
Nice shot.
Worth a Thousand Words
A pretty building, interesting shape. I like the overhanging part a lot.
