Flags in Paihia

I was going through some of my old photos from when we lived in Kerikeri. When we first moved there in 2018 we stopped in Paihia to look around and on the footpath just before town were these flags that someone had painted. There were many more countries flags but these were the ones I took photos of. I'm not sure why they were there, maybe to show that New Zealand is multi-cultural? Who knows?

Nice idea. They brighten the pavement and keep you guessing, and learning! Google knows lol

That's an interesting find. I like the idea of all those flags along that walk.

Kind of a mystery!! I would be hesitant to step on anybody's flag though.

Teaching through street art.

Interesting selection - maybe those were the tourists in town the day the artist was at work.

Interestingly they're numbered. There def was a reason - maybe a game, or there was a chart somewhere?

It's a Community Flag Path Trail - there are pics of people painting the flags. However, I can't find the why. THere is a QR code on the sign but I don't think that will work on my laptop....(I had to google...my brain NEEDS to know these things...it's a curse)

It would add interest to a walk for sure -- surprised there wasn't a sign explaining the project.

That adds interest to a walk. A good guessing game for the kids, and maybe some of us adults as well :)
