Out with the old

See the red building in this photo? It's one of the old original hotels in town that's in the process of being demolished. When we driving past today we could see a specialist team of people going in and out as they were getting rid of asbestos - I expect the next step will be to remove the historical period features inside before tearing it down. Sad really but with alot of buildings in Greymouth not being earthquake proof, not many of them are going to last.

We've had a very quiet last 2 days. Yesterday, Christmas Day, we basically vegetated, ate and napped. After working all of last week we just needed to relax so it's been nice. Leave me a comment to let me how you celebrated the day. A Kiwi tradition we have here is to buy packets of empty brandy snap cases and fill them all with whipped cream - so far we still have half left.

A quiet Christmas for me. Very icy and slippery outdoors so haven't been out much. Lots of TV and ginger cookies! :)

We had a nice and quiet day. On Christmas we had smoked salmon wraps with cream cheese and some jalapeno cheese biscuits. They were yummy!

I like to see buildings repurposed but I understand that much of the time that is not going to happen. I'm old enough to remember when nobody cared if there was asbestos in a building. They would just tear it apart and asbestos fibers and everything would fly in the wind to the lungs of the workers and general public.

We had a quiet Christmas, just the four of us with my MIL.

It is sad, but you also wouldn't want asbestos floating in the air post earthquake either....Merry Christmas to you!

I don´t celebrate x-mas. I´ve been so naughty that I never get any presents that´s the reason why. 😉

Ingo´s school was full of asbestos. He had terrible headaches.
Our Christmas was very quiet, too - and why not?

Christmas memories

B decided to put up our Christmas tree last week then he discovered that some of the lights don't work so he ordered some more online....
