Yellow

Just about everyone knows about the big yellow M right?  We don't go here alot but when we do we all have our own favourite things to order. How is it that cheap food like this is cheaper than healthy stuff? A good question to ponder...

Today I am halfway through my working week. The days I work are Friday through to Monday but lately there has been a stack of nasty winter flu bugs doing the rounds so quite a few colleagues have been home sick. I take vitamins every day so I'm hoping that keeps me from catching the same things.

I haven't been to a McDonalds in over a decade.

Healthy food comes at a price. More dear and hard to access these days. A few winter flu bugs indeed.

Good luck avoiding the perils of winter. Hope you continue to stay well. I volunteer at the hospital and have managed to avoid any coughs or colds, but a tummy bug got me this week.

Hi Amy ~~ I too like the Big M but for some reason we don't stop there much anymore. I remember when they first came to Lincoln, Nebraska, the capital city of Nebraska.
Those little Match Box cars are sold all over around here, the Dollar Store and our Kroger stores both sell them for $1.25. I don't buy many but the last one is a motorcycle. Before that a 1986 Ford Mustang. Most are fairly old, I had the orange racer when I was a child.

In New Zealand used to take the four children to McDonalds occasionally particularly if it was raining because of the covered play area. It had a McCafe where I had my coffee. However it was really the whippy ice cream that I loved the most.

The big M is not very popular here. There's a Greek chain which is far more popular. But nothing of that sort here though.
Hope you don't catch any of the bugs
Like some of the other comments, I have not been in a "M" for a long time Amy but it is a good yellow for Tom's meme. I hope you have a lovely week ahead.

Burgers and that are just too yummy, so much so that premium stores open all over.
Have you heard of Grill´d, they started small but at one point the Big M got afraid of them in Australia and I look SO MUCH forward to have one again.
High quality produce and you have three options to help local community, a great concept.
I have to admit, though, my Brother took me to "Maccas" for a ... "premium burger" and it really was yummy, also! So much, I ordered one, being on my own and had to wait so long the staff offered me an ice-cream! Cause it was made fresh it took so long (sadly I don´t like sweets).

A friend of mine went to Florida for a holiday and confirmed what you say, and actually it´s even the same here in Germany. Healthy food is much more expensive than fast food.

I was in my late 40´s when I learned to cook and bake and I enjoy it immensly.
But yes. More expensive.
Now I crave KFC.
OR!!! I might go to the city for a freshly made burrito! Thank you for the input!! 😊

Looks like those working men just had something from McD. Nice reflections, they kinda adds some mystery to the Photo. Nice one!

Best to be cautious during winter weather.

We never go to the M place as a family. If I am traveling by myself I will stop and get a breakfast biscuit and I think their coffee is not bad for fast food coffee.

The odd time I've picked up breakfast items from them, but it's probably been over a decade since I had their burgers.

Auckland Metropolis Museum

In amongt the modern new highrise buildings in Auckland City is this smaller vintage building that is currently for sale (I'd buy it if I had the money).   My research found that:  "It was designed by English-born architect Charles Towle and erected in the early 1930s as the Church of Christ, Scientist, the building's Graeco-Roman facade has towering columns that frame its impressive entranceway, with three ornate timber doors decorated with leadlight inserts providing access to the expansive foyer. Arched ceilings dominate the former congregational high stud space beyond the foyer and numerous picturesque windows provide a light, airy feel and an ambience many office buildings lack. The building housed congregational and Sunday school services for 70 years until it was sold and converted into office space in 2003. A significant refurbishment was also carried out with care taken to ensure that the building's distinctive character remained intact. Special architectural ...

Grace Brothers

We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
