Today marks our national ANZAC Day for Aotearoa. ANZAC means Australia/New Zealand Army Corps. Many people across the country get up early for dawn services in their towns and cities. It is always remembered on April 25th each year to pay honour to those who were in Gallipoli in the First World War and all of those who have fought in all wars and peace keeping missions.
Photos above from the Auckland War Memorial Museum taken about 10 years ago by me.

Very nice post tribute to your family heroes.
I watched the dawn service in Auckland live on YouTube. Its always moving and so well done. I noticed this time there's a lot more Maori spoken.
Your family heroes, gone but never forgotten!
Lest we forget
I bake Anzac biscuits every year as a thanks to the Australian army for looking after my grandfather.
What a misery war brings to humanity and all because a few egos are too big.
Great stained glass at the war memorial. I have no photos of the family members lost in last century's conflicts. Keep yours in a safe place.
They are the real heroes, never forget.
...a solemn day.
We must never forget those who've sacrificed for us. May they rest in peace.

Nice tribute.
All familys should have heros
Both of my grand-dads battled agains Soviet Union in WW2. We shall never forget.
I have a by now empty sachet of poppies a Perth friend gave me 2015 - Gallipoli - 100th anniversary.
We attended the parade in 1995 and 2015.
Certainly Germans have nothing like this - despite many were forced to fight, just like many a Russian now, too...
There will always be a war somewhere, I suppose...
I have friends who are in Sydney right now and they texted a few photos from the parade there.
A good tribute.
