Fat Pipi Pizzas


A street shot from Hokitika last time we were there in Spring. I haven't eaten there but they are right next to the beach so that would be an enticing feature. Fat Pipi Pizzas offer Seafood, Pizza, Pasta and Chicken meals - their menu looks good. For those who don't know what a Pipi is it's like a small type of shellfish that you can either eat raw or cooked. I use to eat them when I was a child but unfortunately these days with so many beaches hit by pollution it's just not that safe anymore.

I assumed Pipi was the person's name? But I didn't kno you could eat Pipis raw?!

At first, I was trying to imagine a chubby Pippi Longstocking and then I realized it was Pipi, not Pippi. :-)

It is really sad to think we can't safely eat shellfish straight from our beaches any more. What happened to the clean green image? Just an image? Different reality?

Family

  Photo taken Spring 2024 in Auckland We have been invited to a family reunion in June 2026 which will be held in Auckland so I'm looking forward to catching up with relatives that I haven't seen in over 10 years.  This week we have: Had a good chat with a friend who has also adopted a rescue dog - must arrange a play date. I've bought some non alcoholic liqueurs to mix up for mocktails which have been very nice as I don't really drink. We had a massive wind storm 2 days ago, we were ok but a good friend who lives 20 minutes away had a bolt of lightning strike her house, the result was a blown up power box inside and part of her kitchen got burned, she had to call out the fire brigade to put it out. Hail

  Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.  Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.
