Cheese and petrol


Working in one of our local supermarkets means I frequently see new things on the shelves and in the fridges. I happened to see this box of cheeses that had just come out and was excited to try them. I'm not usually a blue cheese fan as I find it a bit strong but the Rotoiti Blue was really yummy. All of them were good on crackers and toast.


And thankfully petrol prices have come down here. At one point it was over $3 NZD per litre of unleaded - crazy.

I wish our petrol was 3 NZD! Up to almost equivalent of 4NZD. But I've noticed this week it has come down a little.

That cheese looks good but not available here in either of our N W stores or Pak n Save. I see it is quite expensive, just over $40 kg. but working there I expect you get discount.

@Susan Heather, no-one in NZ gets discounts for working in a supermarket, we pay the same as everyone else but it's a nice idea.

Petrol price per litre here in my corner of the world 0.460NZD!
Luckily for us, Malaysia ranks among the top 10 nations with the cheapest gasoline prices.

Oh boy do those cheeses look good! Have some for me too.
Our petrol prices have gone down but we don't see a reduction in ferry prices or anywhere else.

It is good to see petrol prices dropping a bit - finally! I'll have to keep an eye out for that Rotoiti Blue and try some :)

That's something we will have to get used to bsck home. NZ makes good cheese but doesn't make all the varieties we have become used to eating in Europe. We will miss graviera, a dozen different kinds of feta, pecorino, Le Compte, genuine Stilton and all those marvelous goats cheeses we enjoy in France. The cheese eating market in NZ isn't big enough for all those varieties to be anything but 'boutique' and a really expensive treat rather than a regular part of our everyday food.

Grace Brothers

  We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

  I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
