Kokatahi Hotel

Another typical Kiwi pub/tavern - this one in Kokatahi is just outside of Hokitika on the way to the Hokitika Gorge. Hotel in New Zealand isn't always one of the chain hotels, it can also be somewhere people drink, have a meal or book a room for the night.

Multiple uses is probably the way to exist out there. It does look isolated but a very pretty location.

A lot of those country pubs are so isolated you wonder where their clientele come from, but they seem to just appear out of the bush at the end of the day drawn to light and company ... and a cold beer.

I'd love the experience of staying in a hotel like this.

Great little pub. Crowded by face tattooed Māoris? They look even more intimidating than tattooed bikers. Wouldn´t dare to have a cold one with either bunch. I like that mountain in the background.
