In Taupo is this stone platform with a round sculpture on top. I thought it was a bit weird but it was big enough to stand out so I snapped this photo. Apparently it was made to honour the shopping court in the background in 1969. The plaque says: "Sun Court Shopping Centre. Opened 10th October 1969 by J.E. Storey, mayor of Taupo and dedicated to The Happiness of all Who Enter this Court." Architects were Ewen Christie and Associates, built by E.A. Mahmood.

Shopping centers in our region popped up much, much later.
I like this sculpture.
The dedication sounds very 60s. It was probably a very big event at the time. I wonder how many shops have changed hands since then.
...dedicated to the happiness of all who enter, a what a positive thought. Thanks for sharing.
Love the dedication. I wonder why they didn't add a dash of yellow to the sculpture. Much sunnier!
The shopping centre here is located 50km away. It's a nice sculpture, I wonder how many people attended or remember the event.
this is an interesting dedication art
Can't believe the sculpture is that old
Interesting artwork.
Quite unusual.
Nice sculpture and good intent. Don't see too much dedications to shoppers any longer.
It looks very modern for a late '60s sculpture. I like it!
Fun picture.
