Queues



Simply titled "Queues" - this is from the old days, photo taken about 4 years ago when we use to live in Mount Maunganui. The "Big Wave Cafe" is an iconic feature every day at the beach normally serving people with treats such as ice cream, milk shakes etc, back in the days before Covid when there were no worries about standing near someone, or standing in a queue of people. Been a while...but at the moment Delta seems to be passing through New Zealand at quite an iconic rate especially seeing as we are only a small island nation. With this morning's announcement about the change in alert systems it almost seems like we are going in and out of lockdowns, it would be nice to be able to be consistent in getting back to normal life but with large percentages of people not wanting to get vaccinated combined with our biggest city; Auckland having such a high infection rate at the moment it's hard to say when that will be. 

There have been recent government mandates put out that all healthcare workers must be fully vaccinated so I'm happy I got mine sorted in August and now there is talk of vaccination passports coming out within the next month. I've given up trying to explain to conspiracy theorists that these passports have actually been around for a number of years given that when you travel to an infectious country you have to be up to date with your vaccinations etc but they still think it's all about control and taking over their rights. But at the end of the day there is no point stressing about it, we can only do what we can do at the end of the day.

Normal is always changing, just now it is changing faster.
I hear that Melbourne is under lockdown yet again, rises in infections led by maskless marchers protesting at mask wearing....

There is a lot of unity here for vaccines. It is the way out as they say. A third dose is ahead by the looks. Melbourne has just had many restrictions lifted and sound relieved at the same time have 2000 infections but vax level is growing very well. In Newcastle we have a few restrictions and a small rate of infection and pretty high rate of vax. Sydneysiders have freedoms but cant leave the city area yet and rates are coming down to several hundred and vax is high rate.

great choice! NZ was on the news quite a bit, what with the travel bubble, until Melbourne and Sydney went into lockdown a few months back....now we don't hear anything. They are all opened up now so that will be different news to digest on a daily basis.

I don't like queuing. Yes (UK) Covid seem to be rearing its ugly head again and we are opening night clubs without masks!"!!! Have a lovely weekend.

I agree with you Amy. There is no point in getting stressed about things we cannot change. I was getting so het up about it all, before realizing all I can really do is take care of myself the best way I can and not fret over other people's choices. Some people just don't want to hear/know what seems to us to be so reasonable.

In New York, you need to show proof of vaccination to get into almost anywhere. At the museums, restaurants, stores, hotels and theaters, they check your ID and your vaccination card before you can enter. It's been an interesting process. We have nothing like this in Arizona.

Here in Oklahoma, we are only required to wear masks in medical facilities, and not all of them. It's been like this since early summer. Life feels normal here, with the exception of tons of job openings. Seems no one wants to work anymore.

We live in weird times... since a while and queuing up is becoming normal.

We have one that is still closed! No reason other than... I don´t wanna think about it...

I mentioned to Margaret that we wouldn't see the word queue here.
Hang in there. We went in and out of lockdowns for a long while too. Now we have vaccination passports which you need even if you want to sit and have a coffee. No big deal and yes I still have my yellow passport.

What a cool cafe!
It's strange reading about Covid, lockdowns, and mandates. We haven't had any lockdowns or mandates. Most people don't wear masks anywhere. There have been very few Covid related deaths here and my local hospital has always had enough beds. I don't even know of anyone who has had Covid.

The U.K. countries seem to obey Queue etiquette much better than we Yankees. I had a fellow cut right ahead of my today at the lunch register. Later the clerk said she thought that I was being waited on.
I have a granddaughter who doesn't like the government telling her what to do. But she caught the COVID as well as her husband and his brother. The husband almost died, he was hospitalized for about four weeks. He is home now, bringing his oxygen along with him. This Thursday he finally got off oxygen. His doctor said it would take him six months to get his lungs and body back in shape as good as they will get.

There's just a little bit too much "we're working on it" going on for me, Amy. I'm getting fed up with it all. Can't imagine how I'd feel if I lived in Auckland. I must follow Margaret's lead and stop getting stressed about things we cannot change.

Grace Brothers

  We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

  I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
