The long long walk

So last week I decided to go for a walk over the local Heritage Bypass Bridge and back home again, all in all it should've been at least a 30 minute walk which is good for me. On the other side of the bridge though I spotted a path I hadn't seen before so I decided to see where it led. I couldn't resist taking a photo through the railings of some ducks that were making their way along the river. The photo below is a Kauri cleaning station, we have alot of these around the country to protect our native trees - people basically are suppose to rub the soles of their shoes over the cleaning brushes on the ground and then step onto a water spray that then disinfects.

I thought that the trail I was walking on would take me out somewhere near our local fairy pools as it familiar scenery.

As it happened the walk took alot longer than expected and I found out that so many people run/jog along this path for fitness.

After walking for nearly an hour I ended up.....At Rainbow Falls - by this stage my legs felt like they were going to fall off and I ended up calling my youngest son to come out and pick me up, it would've been a long walk back into town.

Sounds like whimped out I think you could have walked back to town. Some walks take you by surprise at how far they go but it looks like it was worth it

New trail means new adventures. Too bad you wore yourself out. At least you got some nice photos.
What an adventure, walking unknown paths! I can imagine it would have worn you out, so just as well you had someone to call on. Loved the photos :)

More than one time I have been intrigued by a trail and it didn't go where I thought it was and ended up with a lot longer time than I was planning on. Glad you had somebody to come pick you up.

What a wonderful place to walk. I find that when I walk in a place I'm not familiar with, it feels like a very long walk but on the way back it feels so much shorter. It's good for the legs to get them going, eventually they won't tire so fast. Enjoy your day.

That walk looks lovely, great scenery but, from what I can remember of your area, I believe you that it was very long. Lucky you to have a son on stand by to come to your rescue.

Beautiful walk Amy if a little longer than you expected. We’re you getting worried toward the end? Cell phones are so great to have...I don’t know how I lived so long without one)). I have gone on long walks before with a plan in advance to call for a pickup when I get tired, but I’ve never done that “by accident.”

The only thing that detracts from a walk in the woods is our physical ability.

Lovely walk in the lap of nature ...I could notice the beautiful water fall midst the nature landscape. It would be my pleasure if you join my link up party related to Gardening where you can share any information pertaining to nature, plant and animals here at http://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/2021/01/garden-affair-winter-annuals-for.html

Auckland Metropolis Museum

In amongt the modern new highrise buildings in Auckland City is this smaller vintage building that is currently for sale (I'd buy it if I had the money).   My research found that:  "It was designed by English-born architect Charles Towle and erected in the early 1930s as the Church of Christ, Scientist, the building's Graeco-Roman facade has towering columns that frame its impressive entranceway, with three ornate timber doors decorated with leadlight inserts providing access to the expansive foyer. Arched ceilings dominate the former congregational high stud space beyond the foyer and numerous picturesque windows provide a light, airy feel and an ambience many office buildings lack. The building housed congregational and Sunday school services for 70 years until it was sold and converted into office space in 2003. A significant refurbishment was also carried out with care taken to ensure that the building's distinctive character remained intact. Special architectural ...

Grace Brothers

We have 2 new chickens, both black ladies. If any of you are familiar with British comedy tv shows you will recognize the names we have given them. This one is named Miss Brahms. And this one is named Mrs Slocombe. At the moment we have them in a temporary shelter next to the Special Patrol Group that we've had for the last 9 months just so they can get to know each other before we intigrate the black ones in with the brown ones. These ones give us a white coloured egg whereas the brown shavers give us brown coloured eggs. Linking up with  Tuesday Treasures ,  Happy Tuesdays  and   Wordless Wednesday .

Vondel

I nthe heart of Devonport in Auckland is this little block of businesses. In my younger days I worked in this suburb as a legal typist for lawyers and to see it now as it is, it's made many changes over the years. This building is surrounded by older style buildings in the main street with businesses such as shoe shops, clothing shops, professionals, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. It's a very upmarket suburb with quite expensive houses along the waterfront. Vondel in the above photo is a restaurant but upon looking up their website, there wasn't alot of information about who they are. Linking up with  Weekend Reflections   and the  Weekend Roundup .
