Moving forward with Spring
We put our clocks forward by 1 hour last night and I guess now that the mornings will be getting lighter earlier and the nights being longer our town will also be getting busier. It's a bit of a tourist trap here being right by the beach and yesterday we had the 2 houses either side of us being used by the families who own them. I guess with school holidays here for the next 2 weeks they are coming up to enjoy the scenery. One with a constantly barking dog and the other with 4 boys, I know which one I prefer.
And this morning for the first time ever we heard the Tsunami siren go off. They test it once in a while and depending on where you live some people can hear it and some can't. Other houses we've lived in we haven't heard it but this time we did. Apparently you can also get text alerts just in case so it's worth working out a plan if it ever happens.
Do you have an evacuation plan where you live in case of a disaster?

Lovely photo.
When we had those storms last week, we got lots of flash flood warnings on our cell phones. But, I don't know of any escape plans. The warnings are so that people stay off of flooded roads. It's amazing how many people don't heed those warnings and need to be rescued.
It's always great seeing the other side of the world slipping into spring while we go to fall.
We have tornado sirens. They test them every Wednesday at noon. We have a designated safe space in our house where we get the three of us and our five critters. With tornadoes, they pop up so suddenly and move so fast that going to a shelter doesn't really work. Unless you live in a trailer house then you better do what you can do.
In the energy business, our customers who drill wells have one building that they set in the ground with huge screws for the crews to go when hazardous. They work fairly well. I've seen photos of rigs bent into two and pipe and everything all over the place but the crew was safe in what they call the "doghouse"
Nice photo, love the dog checking out the beach.
If we have an evacuation pland, I don't know what it is.
In Sweden we have a warning siren used for general catastrophes. It is tested every first Monday of the month at 3 pm. If you hear it at any other time you are supposed to go indoors and shut doors and windows and listen to your local radio station for messages what it is about. I don't think I've ever heard it sound at any other time than the tests though - except once a few years ago when it was set off by mistake and caused some confusion.
our daylight savings change will be in Nov for the winter. Love the beach and I think I would prefer the boys over barking dog. Poor dog!
Lovely views!
We have been hit by two disasters of note here- the tornado last year and the great ice storm of 1998.
I can see why the tourists love coming here Amy. We've been lucky here so far re weather disasters, but if the climate changes around the world are anything to go by, that could change in the future ✨
I love those beaches as I don´t have them at home. :) And I love spring. even if fall is not that bad :)
