The old Paeroa R.S.A. building

There are plenty of old buildings in Paeroa, one of which is the old RSA (returned services association) building which was first established in 1919 after wounded soldiers came home after the 1st world war.

Just a short way up are these rows of lemon trees are either side of the pathway leading to the building.

And this is the building from the look of it, maybe back in the 1960s? Not sure who took the photo so I can't give credit.

It was a tradition for us to always stop and use the loos at Paeroa when on our way north. I stopped there my greek family too. Always clean
Love lemon and Paeroa and the big bottle sign

The lemon trees are a great idea. I don't remember seeing them.

Because I used to go all over New Zealand playing in croquet tournaments I visited a lot of RSA's and Cosmopolitan Clubs for evening meals with the players. It was a shame, in a way, that so many were little used any more and were closing down. Some, like The Mount, in Maunganui were new and thriving though. Life changes and society changes and, of course, there are far few returned servicemen.
