Fishing off the rocks at Mount Maunganui
Over the holidays while we were off work we've been doing alot of walking especially along the beach. We ventured through Leisure Island which is just off the main beach area and saw these two men with their fishing rods as they were surf casting. The one at the bottom on the rocks looked like he was holding a bag of burley in the water to entice the fish.
This is a view off the rocks over part of the main beach.....and with scenery like this why wouldn't you want to enjoy it?

What an ideal place for a walk or even just to sit and watch the waves.
Beautiful and warming to the soul
I had to go away and look up what burley is .... maybe I should have just tried google translate ;)))... sometimes we speak the same language, sometimes not. Anyway, now I know and it doesnt really matter anyhow because I'd be enjoying the wonderful quiet scenic beach and not fishing anyway, with or without using burley! Beautiful pictures...I'm glad you had a good Holiday!
hey Sallie, I probably spelled it wrong anyway but burley is what fishermen sometimes use by putting scraps of food in a net bag and hanging it in the water, it entices the fish to come along and eat the bait :-)
I like watching people fish, but it's too boring for me. I tried it once.

Great
These remind me of my father—a writer and a photographer who loved rivers, oceans, and most of all, fishing. Just want to thank you!

Lovely photos of a very beautiful place of nature ~ thanks,
Wishing you a Happy Week ahead ~ ^_^
I always love the rocky beaches than the clear boring sandy ones. And when i saw fishers at them in Australia i wished i can join them too, haven't experienced fishing. Is this in NZ too, havent seen fishers when i was there, wonder why.
yew, of course, I would want to enjoy it. :) Love the rounded rocks. :)
