Yellow gazanias and driftwood sculptures at Ohope beach
Over the weekend we did a bit of a tiki tour around Whakatane, one of the spots we visited was lovely Ohope beach. Beautiful hot sunny Spring day and awesome scenery - yellow gazanias growing in the sand on the hillside and a driftwood sculpture on the sand - just perfect!

Was that structure for a makeshift tent?
(No idea what that flower is called. It was just there by the roadside.)
no I don't think so, you're not allowed to camp on beaches here, we have campgrounds for that, I think someone just found all the driftwood and made something from it :-)
Great photos of a beautiful beach. I like the yellow flowers growing over the sand.
This bit is just for your amusement - I live in a place called "Cooloola Cove" One of the businesses in town had recently changed owners and the new people have put up new advertising and signs - they have called it "Kiwi Cove" and yes, they are from NZ.
Beautiful finds, same structure. Where is Ohope Beach? I am so envious my sister is now having conference in Wellington.
That first photo is a gem with the yellow flowers in the foreground. Brings to mind the poem, Sea Fever by John Masefield: 'I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky.....'

Hello, the flowers are pretty. Love the beach scenes. Enjoy your day!
