Paddling at Snell's Beach




So nice to be out and about in the Spring sunshine. We stopped at Snells Beach, just out of Warkworth so it would be about maybe 50 minutes from where we live. After the drive I paddled in the low tide and walked barefoot on the sand.

We're not sure why we've been bought back here to Mangawhai, there's a reason for it we just aren't sure why yet but this beach was one of the places we drove through on this particular day.


After driving around we decided that due to the level of traffic coming in and out of this town that it wasn't for us, so we will see what eventuates.

We have the other half's 20 year old daughter staying with us for the next 2 weeks. Just over 2 years ago she moved to Perth in Australia and now she's back for a brief holiday. Us  kiwis don't really celebrate Halloween that much, it's not that popular here so I hope you have a safe one.

Paddling in the ocean on a Spring day is one of life's little pleasures Amy. Does your stepdaughter enjoy living in Perth?

One thing I do remember is the traffic on the roads around Whangerei - especially SH1. I suppose anywhere in commuting distance or on the tourist routes is going to be busy, though, especially in summer.

Barefoot in the sand sounds wonderful. Beautiful photos, and the last one (with the orange and black pole) has nice "Halloween" colors!

Fun to read about Spring as Winter approaches here in Oregon! (Where barefoot weather at the coast is often iffy even in mid summer, but we still love it!)

Family

  Photo taken Spring 2024 in Auckland We have been invited to a family reunion in June 2026 which will be held in Auckland so I'm looking forward to catching up with relatives that I haven't seen in over 10 years.  This week we have: Had a good chat with a friend who has also adopted a rescue dog - must arrange a play date. I've bought some non alcoholic liqueurs to mix up for mocktails which have been very nice as I don't really drink. We had a massive wind storm 2 days ago, we were ok but a good friend who lives 20 minutes away had a bolt of lightning strike her house, the result was a blown up power box inside and part of her kitchen got burned, she had to call out the fire brigade to put it out. Hail

  Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.  Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.
