Blackball Cemetery
About 20 minutes outside of Greymouth is the small village of Blackball. It has a lengthy history associated with coal mining and industrial action but it was originally a gathering place for gold miners. The cemetery is alot bigger than this photo shows, this is only a small part of it overlooking the road.

...it's in the style of southern cemeteries here in the US!
Blackball’s layered history, from gold rush beginnings to coal mining struggles, makes the quiet hillside cemetery feel like a keeper of many untold stories
It does look old. Or this part of it does. I wonder what how old some of the tombstones are
And so every graveyard has its own story to tell. Nice one.
i would like to have a look around there. i like old cemetries.
Reading the gravestones is always enjoyable when walking in a cemetery.
Modern cemeteries just donhave that interest do they? These old places were so full of family expression, taste (whether one shares it of not), and the skills of stone masons.
I always enjoyed looking around an old cemetery.
